Swim
Comments: I felt pretty good going into the race because I have been swimming and doing a lot drills with my tri club. After the first turn I was all over the place, I have a problem with sighting. I probably swam a lot further then I needed too and cost me a few minutes. I was out of the water at 29:30 but it was a long way to transition. What would you do differently?: Get better at sighting and practice more open water swims. I have only been in the lake once this year and all my workouts have been in the pool. Transition 1
Comments: This was a good transition because I sit to put my socks and bike shoes on so I couldn't make it to much faster. I did forget to put my Gu packets in my jersey. What would you do differently?: Not forget my Gu Bike
Comments: I was expecting to have a hard bike after driving the course the day before so I knew what to expect. It was a slow bike ride on a very hilly course and I was just trying to survive the bike. I climbed up the hills slowly and just tried to push the downhills and flat sections. What would you do differently?: I couldn't do much more besides coming to practice the course. There are no hills around Chicago to compare. Maybe dropping 20 pounds would help as well. Transition 2
Comments: Good transition and this time I remembered my GU. What would you do differently?: Just run faster. Run
Comments: I knew the run was going to be hard because I had to take a lot of time off from running because of an injury. I was just going to survive the run and finish the race. What would you do differently?: Not get injured and have to stop running for a month before the race. Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: This was my first race of the season and just did it as a warm up for Racine. However, I wanted to do better then what I did and realized that I need to lose about 20 pounds to really do better on a course this hilly. For some reason I wasn't feeling the best either. 1 mile into the bike course I thought about stopping and just take my first DNF. At that point I just firgured I would take it easy and take it mile my mile and relax. Glad I pushed through and finished the race. Event comments: It was a really good race and ran well. Everything was on time and the course was well marked with plenty of volunteers. I would do this race again and might just plan on it for next year. Last updated: 2010-01-14 12:00 AM

Woke up at 4am and got ready to head over over to the park and was at the park at 5:30am. Had a peanut butter sandwhich and gu before the race and some water.
Just a couple minutes of swimming.
