Swim
Comments: started on the outside and avoided all contact except for a few off course swimmers; still seem to be swimming a little too far right; sighting was good; managed to stay calm the entire swim. My best ever OWS race swim; a PB pace! :) 37/51 for all F swimmers What would you do differently?: stay left more; push it a little more Transition 1
Comments: felt slow, but my time was respectable; ran it hard to the mount line (counted in bike time) What would you do differently?: want to learn a running mount! Bike
Comments: didn't expect to have my butt kicked by a flat course; I guess I have a new respect for what it takes to be a good flatland racer the pine trees all decided that this was their weekend to pollenate and the amount of pollen in the air was insane! I spent most of the ride with tearing eyes, feeling like my eyes were filled with grit; we all finished covered in pollen and looking yellow. 27/51 for all F bikers What would you do differently?: there's no flat training nearby so what can I do? Post race
Warm down: rinsed off in the lake What limited your ability to perform faster: pollen-fill teary eyes on the ride; need more flatland training Event comments: I did packet pickup on Saturday; the line was long and slow on Sunday. There were not enough body markers. Started late. The awards were very late and look a very long time. A very good race if you like things a bit more relaxed and laid back. into bed a bit too late but had trouble sleeping anyway (as usual). Up at 4:45; dressed and ate my usual breakfast of Cheerios and a yogurt smoothie. Headed off to the race ahead of schedule!
