Swim
Comments: My goggles fogged up with steam and mouth filled up with salt water immediately. The tossing about made it impossible to see where i was going. Also im a right sided breather and that was the seaward side, sighting gave me an excuse to break and catch my breath. Once i got into my regular rhythm i was fine. I kept making sure there were swim caps around me. I didnt get smacked or kicked like i expected, just lightly brushed. What would you do differently?: Nothing. I just need to do more OW training. Transition 1
Comments: I didnt think that i should be obsessed with transition times, but ive changed my mind. What would you do differently?: There are little modifications i can do to make it quicker. I def want to learn how to get into the shoes after getting on the bike, and do the barefoot running. Bike
Comments: I hated having to slow down so early. An officiator yelled at me for not slowing down enough before dismount. I guess i should the jumping off technique too. What would you do differently?: I want an aero set up. Transition 2
What would you do differently?: I must learn this technique of shoes staying on the bike. IMPOSSIBLE to run in cleat on blacktop. Run
Comments: Jogged/walked in the beginning, realized that was counterproductive. Remembered the GU w/caffeine in my pocket and took it. Once that hit me about 1/3 of the way in, i didnt take anymore walking breaks, jogged the whole way, 'sprinted' across the finish line. Disappointed with the one make shift water station. The run is my most challenging bc of injuries and permanent deformities so i was impressed with my time (PR is 41:00 on treadmill). Post race
Warm down: bagel, 2 waters, telling my perspective to son and nephew who were amazed at what i just did. Event comments: I really enjoyed this race. Even tho it wasnt my first tri, it was my first sprint distance. The best feeling for me is knowing that i set a goal and did what i had to do to get there. The training was something i looked forward to and im proud of myself for going strong the whole time. My times are not the best compared to everyone else, but they are good for me and makes me want to train harder and get better. Thanks everyone for the encouragement! Walked .5 mile to swim start, swam 25 or so meters.
