Run
Comments: Marathon at the end of May, first time running with no fuel belt. Can't say I liked it - there's something about being able to drink when I want, and what I want. Pace was good. Some people hate the watches, I find mine makes me work harder. I really feel the stamina/endurance now. Happy hill (the steep incline to get out of the valley) was a good run up, where before I had to walk. Once at the top the crowd and the bagpipers really motivated me to keep up the pace the whole time. I hate the last few kms since they are all slightly uphill, and there's no relief. I really tried to push to 4:00 pace but this time it was the legs saying "No sir, not today" rather than usually the mind being a wuss bitching about the pain. I still managed to pass a hoarde of people and had a good solid sprint finish but it wasn't stupid 100m dash fast like before. What would you do differently?: Take the 2 bottles for the half, 4 for the full. Extra weight but I think it will be net worth it. Post race
Warm down: Light stretching, 250ml choco milk immediately, bottle of that new G2 water stuff (not bad!) What limited your ability to perform faster: Harder course, very busy single bike path in places, limited tempo/threshold work. Event comments: In 08 ran 1:55 for 583/1892 In 09 a 1:40 for 193/1833 In 10 it was a 1:35 for 110/1829 So maybe for 11 I might be knocking on that 1:30 door. I will need to start doing some better workouts though rather than just running to get the logs up. Last updated: 2010-01-31 12:00 AM

Up at 6:30, poptart, some shreddies and a fruit bar.
Temps were just above 0 but the snow had mostly cleared from the asphalt surfaces. So I went with an underarmor base, long tech, tights, running cap. Cold standing around but was perfect for the race.
Jog around the parking lot for 5 mins, then potty.
Too much time dicking around meeting up with people, was late to the start.
