Swim
Comments: I felt fantastic on the swim. None of the open water jitters like at my first race. Navigation could have been better as I was off-course at times. Really crowded swim, I bumped into quite a few people and was hit several times. What would you do differently?: Sight better, perhaps put a little more effort into the swim. I still had energy left in the tank at the end. Overall, my best OW effort to date. Transition 1
Comments: Felt a little dizzy in transition...I need to get used to riding a bike without socks...I took a lot of time putting them on in transition. I would like to get tri-specific shoes as well. That would allow me to keep them clipped into the pedals instead of trying to run with them on. What would you do differently?: No socks, get new shoes. Bike
Comments: I felt very good on the bike. The course is hilly and I kept a good cadence for most of the bike leg. I could have pushed harder on the bike, but I'm not sure how it would have affected my run. Love the new bike! What would you do differently?: Push harder on the hills. Transition 2
Comments: Quick transition here. No problem changing shoes and getting off on the run. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Run
Comments: Ah yes, the run with the evil climb up the "damn dam." Luckily for me I ran the course with a friend, John G., which made it so much better. He runs at the same pace I do which really helped. Beautiful day, great people to run with. What could be better? I had to stop once briefly to stretch a calf, but other than that it was great. My brother met me near the end to dump a cup of water on my head...awesome! And he took 4th overall! Also, my daughter joined me for the last 20 yards to the finish line...a real treat. What would you do differently?: Nothing except run faster. :) This course could have used one more water station at the turn-around on top of the dam. Post race
Warm down: Walking around with the family and meeting (and eating) with members of the club. What limited your ability to perform faster: Fitness Last updated: 2010-02-09 12:00 AM

Light breakfast, pick up JC and head to the race. Last minute check on gear and nutrition.
Rode part of the course with JC and swam around 100 yards. I really appreciated the new wet suit I received for my birthday today...the flotation is amazing...I felt fast before I even started!
