Swim
Comments: Triangular course at low tide. Many people walked a lot of the course, however, I swam the whole way. The distance of 800 yards was measured by my Garmin 310xt but I think the actual distance was less based on my very fast time and <12 min was 114th place in the swim. I think it was closer to 700 yards. What would you do differently?: Practice more open water swimming at race pace in the wetsuit. Transition 1
Comments: My swim cap and goggles fell out of the wetsuit sleeve as I was running up the beach which delayed me a few seconds; that was actually before the mat so it affected my swim time instead of T1. I think it was a good transition for a first race and more experience will improve the transitions. Bike
Comments: I was very pleased with my biking. It was the fastest pace I've ever maintained and was better than I hoped. Transition 2
Comments: Smooth transition. I forgot to move my Garmin 310 from the bike to my wrist prior to transition and almost left the watch. The time will improve with practice. Run
Comments: I was surprised at how good I felt coming off the bike. I planned to increase my pace for the final quarter mile. I started at 2.75 miles but the course was only 2.93 instead of 3 that I expected. I probably should have started increasing at 2.5 miles. What would you do differently?: Run harder for the last mile. Post race
Warm down: walk around. Event comments: This was my first race, so I don't have any other comparisons. I was absolutly thrilled with my performance and can't wait for my next race! Last updated: 2010-03-10 12:00 AM

Since the race is only 12 minutes from my house, I woke up at 6 and laid in bed for a few minutes. I ate half a bagle and had some OJ, then left. I took a banana to eat when I got there. I got to the race about 45 minutes before the start and set up my transition area. I didn't really feel nervous until I was there.
None.
