Swim
Comments: When I registered I greatly over calculated my swim time which made me start in the back of the group. It was very crowded, especially at the turns. I had to stop to get around some people at times, but I feel I swam ok. What would you do differently?: Look more closely at estimated swim time during registration, maybe swim a little bit harder. Transition 1
Comments: I didn't think this went too badyl, but I did have a little trouble getting clipped in to start. I figured I would since it was my first race with my new pedals. I also had to pull on my windbreaker since it was so cold. It really helped to already have it zipped a bit and just pull it over. What would you do differently?: I could have run a bit faster with the bike and can definitely work on my bike mount. Bike
Comments: I did pretty good on the hills, but always seemed to fall behind on the downhill and strait-aways. I would pass the same people going up a hill only to have them pass me again going down and on the straits. I think I really pissed them off. I never used my left gears(big chain ring), so that is a big problem. I need to learn to do that. What would you do differently?: Use my left gears effectively (big chain ring) Transition 2
Comments: I had to stop to get off the bike-not good I unclipped rather than took feet out of my shoes...don't know about that I screwed up big time racking my bike. I put it in the wrong rack, so after changing my shoes, I went back and moved it. No problem getting off jacket and shoes What would you do differently?: Put my bike in the right rack Work on a smoother dismount Run
Comments: My feet and toes were numb at the beginning because they were so cold. My legs obviously felt tight and heavy, but by the 2nd km, they felt better and I was able to pick up my pace a bit. I felt that I pushed myself more than last time, but still could probably go harder. I could hear and feel the water in my stomach o that bothered me. I only took a drink a few times on the bike (once with my gu) and once during T2. and drank at both water stations. I passed quite a few people and played the "Catch" game with people I saw ahead and that was almost fun...especially passing guys. The best was at the end when I sprinted ahead to beat a guy. I think my stride felt good, I concentrated on picing up fast. What would you do differently?: Maybe just push a little harder from the beginning. Cut back on the water Post race
Warm down: water, powerbar What limited your ability to perform faster: technique problems place positioning in the swim not pushing hard enough Event comments: I liked beginning the season with a pool swim, never did one before. Last updated: 2010-03-29 12:00 AM
