Swim
Comments: The waves were too large for the size of the pool and you had to do 2 laps. This caused overcrowding in my opinion. Also, the pool was shallow enough that my hand was hitting the bottom for at least 50% of the time which made it easier to stand up and walk for those portions of the race. What would you do differently?: Waves need to be smaller and have more time between them for such a confined swim. I would have personally stuck to the outside of the lanes more and walked as much as possible because it was so shallow the swimming was more dificult. Transition 1
Comments: They did not provide transition times Bike
Comments: The bike was a mostly flat out and back on a four lane hwy that 2 lanes were shut down for the race. It only had one hill of any consequence. Also, the intersections were well staffed and made for a safe and fast ride. What would you do differently?: Nothing different for this race. I made my goal of 20mph on the bike. It felt like a good ride when I got off the bike. Transition 2
Comments: No transition times provided. Run
Comments: Was a nice run through Coney Island park. There were plenty of water stations and volunteers. What would you do differently?: I would have pushed much harder. In both of my triathlons this season on the run I seem to back off for some reason. I always feel like I have alot left at the end. Post race
Warm down: Walked around and did some dynamic stretching. What limited your ability to perform faster: My own mental state. Physically at the end of each race this season I have felt like I could have went harder. Need to make a point of pushing myself that extra bit with my next race. Event comments: If I could change anything it would be the swim. May be the only thing that keeps me from doing this race again. Everything else about it was great. The people and weather were awesome! Last updated: 2010-04-26 12:00 AM
