Run
Comments: Paced myself well. Most people took off running quite quickly...resisted the urge to try and keep up. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Transition 1
Comments: Quite a far run in bike shoes. Took me awhile to get clipped in. What would you do differently?: Get better at running in bike shoes... Bike
Comments: I bonked really badly on the bike. Up until now it's been quite cool so I haven't trained in the heat. I just felt sick and had nothing left. What would you do differently?: Train more in the heat. Transition 2
Comments: Another long run with bike shoes. Run
Comments: I had nothing left after the bike. I'm surprised my time wasn't longer - had to walk a few times. This was a tough run (mentally). I was in last place and kept getting the pity cheers that the last place person always gets. Oh well, somebody had to come in last. I still had a great time. What would you do differently?: Not bonk on the bike so I have something left for the run. Post race
Warm down: Had a lot of water. Ate a couple pieces of watermelon and half of a banana. Felt a little ill so I backed off of the food. What limited your ability to perform faster: Bonking on the bike, the heat Event comments: There was a kids triathlon right before the adult duathlon and that's what this event was mostly geared toward. The post-race food had been sitting out in the sun since the kids started (hours and hours ago) so it was kind of gross. Not only that, but when I tried to grab some fruit, a volunteer kept trying to put it away and pack it up...before the adults even had a chance to eat any of it. I thought that was kind of rude. I was staying at my in-laws since they live way closer to Yorkton than I do. Got up, had some fruit, husband and I drove 1.75 hours to Yorkton. I ate 2 bananas on the way.
Not much. Stood around. Hopped around a bit.
