Run
Comments: I didn't run with my bottle in hand - which was a little different, I was just going to rely on the hand outs. I took something on every mile, but they only had Gatorade at 2 of the stops mostly just water. I'm glad a took some gu or I wouldn't been able to keep the pace up. Post race
Warm down: Walked around, found the family, got some post race food of which the kids ate most of it. Took some pictures and then we needed to get home to get the kids to the carnival at school. What limited your ability to perform faster: Not training at high enough intensity - I have been training for longer races at much, much slower paces so this was a stretch for me right now. But I want to support the local races here in town. Event comments: This race is put on by the Baylor Students and they did a good job. Last year there were only 160 runners, this year they had 430. I woke up a little too early, ate some cereal about 3 hours before the race, then 2 boiled eggs 1 1/2 hours before. I got to the race at 7am, walked around found a few people I know and talked about what we thought we could do.
This was the first time I have run on the road in several weeks. I've been training on the trails getting ready for the 50k next week and running at a much slower pace, so I wasn't for sure if I could keep an 8 minute mile for 13 miles, but that is what I had set for a goal 1:45.
Jogged to the bathroom a few times.
