Swim
Comments: Good swim this time too. I took it relatively easy to start and tried to figure out what people were going to do (sometimes there's more fisticuffs than others). Things went fine to the first yellow bouy/turn so I decided to pick it up for the last turn and on back to the beach. My breathing never got elevated so again, I feel like I could have gone harder and still not burned out for the remainder of the race (retrospect is easy). What would you do differently?: One day I'll learn pacing in the water and I'll have a breakthrough swim. Transition 1
Comments: It felt like I took waaaaay longer than the 1:16 that the timing chip had. I'll admit that I wanted to take my time in T1 and stay there... What would you do differently?: Not too much. Bike
Comments: I just didn't have the stones to push myself to a pace that was uncomfortable level and deal. Usually I can push out of my comfort zone and then get comfy there and push again to the next level. Again, I just didn't have it that day. What would you do differently?: This was a great opportunity to dig deep and race out of my comfort zone to get good results but I took the easy way out and stayed at that below threshold level. Transition 2
Run
Comments: It got pretty hot out there and there was no shade to be had. I ran with a water bottle but I was full and didn't even want to take the Gu at the end of my bike. I was going to wait and push the last 1 to 1.5 miles but it didn't feel like I had any energy left by the time I needed to step it up. I could see the Finish shoot and decided to catch the lady ahead of me. It felt like sh!t but I had to do something. I caught her and finished strong for the last minute of the run. Lame Post race
Warm down: Kept walking around and started feeling like crap and dizzy. I forced down 5-6 pieces of watermelon, 2 waters, 1 coke and 1 banana. I started feeling better about 5-10 minutes after that. What limited your ability to perform faster: I'm a slacker and don't train! Also, I ate like a carnivore on holiday and I had 3-4 beers the day before. Not too smart. Event comments: Top notch race and production. They took the time to make things look great and outfit the event site professionally. I would recommend anyone do this race. It's super flat and fast. Ate a jelly sandwich before leaving and 12 oz of water. Not enough fuel and too much 'good eating and 3 beers' the day before. Ahh summertime.
Nothing...and I my legs were'nt ready to get the bike going early :(
