Swim
Comments: Well, I felt a bit queasy at the start, but that quickly faded as I got into race mode. After 3 lengths I started to get a side cramp (once again, seems to be a repeat from the Rattlesnake, breathing too shallowly). Then started catching the tail of the wave on the 5th-7th lengths. Quickly time to get out of the water What would you do differently?: Probably nothing for this race. I knew I couldn't go too hard on the swim as I would need every ounce of energy I had to make it through the run after the two previous days of food poisoning. (This year's swim was 1 minute slower than my swim on a Relay team last year) Transition 1
Comments: Had a fairly quick transition. Had to put on a jacket because it was soo cold out at this time. What would you do differently?: Nothing Bike
Comments: The ride out was great and fast, only bad point when I hit the rumple strip while in aero. Thought I was going to be thrown from the bike. Then once over the highway, it was straight into a headwind and slightly uphill the whole way back. Ouch! What would you do differently?: Nothing, actually felt decent on the bike, although I'm sure I could have gone a tad faster with proper pre-race nutrition. Transition 2
Comments: Had a pretty good transition, my friend Dave was across the rack from me and came in right after me with his running shoes already on, and beat me out of transition. Numb toes from the bike definitely made it harder to put the shoes on. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Run
Comments: This was a painful run. I passed my friend right out of the gates (I may be a bit competitive...) and then pushed myself through the rest of it. The last two miles I felt really bad and fatigue/horrid nutrition was catching up with me. Still finished really quickly and was happy with my results. What would you do differently?: Nothing really. Definitely helped that triathlon training requires running through pain. Post race
Warm down: Walked around and talked to friends What limited your ability to perform faster: Food poisoning. Event comments: Love this race. Great people, fun experience! Last updated: 2010-08-24 12:00 AM

Came down with food poisoning on Thursday night, so after being able to keep down a small chicken taco thing on Saturday night, I decided to race. Ate a bite of banana and a granola bar. Couldn't eat more
Rode the bike from home to transition (so nice to not have to deal with parking!), quickly set up transition (forgot my helmet on the way out and had to go get it, was then running late), got body marked and headed into the hot springs
