Swim
Comments: My first tri, and I am a slow swimmer. I was glad just to finish the swim w/out backstroking or stopping. I got run over by 1 or 2 other waves of swimmers. What would you do differently?: Swim faster. Transition 1
Comments: I put my shoes on before leaving T1. The bike mount faced up a slight hill to a quick right turn. Not a good place to be messing w/shoes. I had a slow T1 time, but avoided falling or crashing at bike mount. What would you do differently?: Nothing really, just move faster in the transition area. Bike
Comments: Held back more than I needed to. I rode this course faster on my practice ride. I was also conservative w/passing and cornering because I didn't want to crash. What would you do differently?: Learn my limits better, ride harder. Transition 2
Comments: Again I was slow in transition. Got the helmet off and the shoes changed, then hit the port-a-can. Not what I had planned, but wanted to be comfortable on the run. What would you do differently?: Not have to pee? Run
Comments: The "off the bike" legs were tough at first but, just as in my brick workouts, I ran the 1st mile faster than I expected. Was able to hold that pace for most of the run, and finished strong. What would you do differently?: Start running faster at the halfway mark. I had too much left at the end. Post race
Warm down: Water, hot wings, pizza, Coke, Sprite. This was my "reward" meal! What limited your ability to perform faster: All mental. Really, I held back way too much on the bike and the run. My avg HR btwn the two was 152, or 84% of my max. Maybe I am just lazy. I am happy to have completed my first tri, but I am ready to go hit the next one harder. Event comments: My first tri, but from reading reviews this was a good setup w/lots of volunteers, police, food, drink, etc. Much improved from the year-before reports. If every event I do goes this smoothly, I will be very grateful. Last updated: 2010-09-01 12:00 AM

Up at 5:00, drive to event, eat a Clif Bar, drink water, set up transition, take a look around.
Swam the 1st 50 yards and the last 100 yards of the swim course to get a feel for the water and try to get some lineups for sighting.
