Swim
Comments: I am not a strong swimmer at all. For the most part I alternated 25 strokes freestyle, 10 strokes backstroke. What would you do differently?: More OWS practice. Transition 1
Comments: I didn't do the flying mount. I jogged from the water to my area, took off the suit, put on a shirt and my shoes, strapped on my helmet as I ran to the mounting area, and got on the bike. My transition was just about dead center of the area (between enter/exit) and way off to one side. I also couldn't find my sunglasses. I had left them in the bag to not get soaked and spotted, but in my confusion/panic I couldn't get them. Drank another Gatorade Prime. What would you do differently?: I want to eventually learn the flying bike mount. Bike
Comments: WET WET WET. It wasn't raining hard by the bike, but the road was soaked with lots of puddles and the spray off everyone's tires was pretty bad. I was afraid to really push it on flats and downhills for fear of losing traction. I topped out around 28mph, but took all turns SUPER slow (hence the low overall speed) What would you do differently?: I didn't have aerobars because I wasn't able to get used to them (this was my first year cycling). By next year I hope to have that in my arsenal. Transition 2
Comments: Forgot to take my helmet off...started to run out and realized it. WHOOPS! Had to stop and go back. I also decided to wear socks since it was so wet and nasty. That added some time. What would you do differently?: TAKE MY HELMET OFF! Run
Comments: I am a decent runner (it is my best of the 3 sports) and have posted 10-K times around 45min before. The first 2 miles were tough as my legs were stiff from the bike. Once I got loosened up I felt great. What would you do differently?: Need to learn to stretch out my legs during the tail end of the bike. Post race
Warm down: Walked around, drank a powerade, water, and muscle milk. Basically just kept moving for about an hour after the race. What limited your ability to perform faster: Inexperience and the fact that I swim about as well as an achor. I held too much back on the bike. I finished with energy left (could have run another couple of miles without feeling terrible) so that tells me I could have shaved some time off throughout. Event comments: I have nothing to compare it to seeing as how this was my first tri, but the organization and overall enjoyment were far greater than any race I've ever run before. If it hadn't been for bad weather it would have been a perfect day! Last updated: 2010-09-13 12:00 AM

Woke up at 4:30, ate a bowl of cereal and had a glass of milk.
Arrived 5:45AM. It was pouring rain, so tough to set up transition since I wanted to keep as much dry as possible.
Drank a G1 Prime before heading to the swim corrals.
Light stretching in transition. I mostly used the swim as a warmup.
