Comments:

Cold swim, even colder than yesterday. Legs started to cramp towards the end. I waved to the kayaker who came to my rescue. She asked if I wanted to be towed back to the beach or just rest. I was only maybe 150m from shore, so I decided to rest a little and try to shake the cramp and then "swim" to shore, and kayaker agreed to stay with me just in case. I managed to make it back to beach without kayaker's assistance.

Comments:

At the transition, I felt very cold. I put on my Cda Team jacket, with hood, dried myself up, but was still shaking underneath my jacket. Air temp was cool, esp since we're in the shade, and I was just not warming up. I was a little scared and decided to go talk to Jason, race director. We chatted and with the experience of Vancouver's Worlds, I made the difficult decision to hand in my chip and called it a day. After all, I've already clinched the series champion title. I think it was a wise decision, who knows what could happen if I had continued. It's just not worth the risk, my health, and my life. Sth I definitely learnt from Vancouver.

I went back to the transition and then changed out to completely dry clothes. Got myself hot chocolate and warmed up in the sun for another half hr before my body temp felt normal. Then I went onto the run course and cheered every runner on course. Made me feel good.

Event comments:

Too cold for me. I don't regret making the decision to DNF myself. I believe that's the wise decision, and I've learnt from what happened at Vancouver Worlds. Not worth risking my life or limbs, literally.

And I did clinch the series champion title, even though I didn't complete this race.
