Pre-race routine:

Try to stretch but there were so many people that there wasn't really much room. I did run/walk around like a crazy person trying to find a place to use the bathroom. There were FIVE portapoties for 16,000 racers plus fans plus spectators. I very seriously considered using a bush, but finally got into the portapoty minutes before the race started.

Comments:

I don't think there was any kind of official record kept of finishing times. My time came from starting my watch when I crossed the start line and stopping it when I crossed the finish. There were SO many people. It took several minutes just to get across the start line. There were so many walkers up at the front - some of them holding hands! I had to pretty much just shoulder my way through. I took an elbow to the gut at one point.

The race was dense throughout. I ran on the sidewalk some to get away from the crowd. It thinned out a little after about the 1 mile mark, but I was never able to just settle in and run. I was ready to be done with the run by about 2.5 miles and was pretty glad to see the finish line. A large cluster of people stopped 5 feet in front of the finish line and I strongly considered knocking them over to get across, but fortunately decided against it. I would have easily been under 29 minutes if it hadn't been for the dead stop just short of the finish line. Plus there wasn't enough room to get my typical home stretch sprint in. Overall, it was a pretty frustrating experience. I know it raised A LOT of money for breast cancer but it certainly could have been better run. I didn't even get a t-shirt and it was a very expensive race.
What would you do differently?:

I did well for what I've been faced with this season and considering the race environment.
Post race
Warm down:

Drank a water and stretched some. Walked around the huge park area trying to find my husband and friends

Side note: this was my husband's first race of any kind and he finished in 37:30. I'm very proud of him!
