Swim
Comments: I knew the swim is my weak point so I did not expect something awesome there. Jumped off the boat, and waited the start. First 400m were great and then it was just as usual. Managed to do the time I wanted. The little run from the exit to the transition was a little bit long at the end. What would you do differently?: Nothing, just keep practise OWS and swim in general to gain speed. The good things is I was not panicked at all :) Transition 1
Comments: The run off the swim is a little bit long and you're loosing at least a min there. Struggled a little bit to remove the wetsuit (need to work on that) and off I went. What would you do differently?: Need to practise the wetsuit removal :) Bike
Comments: Beautiful bike course on a typical Muskoka cottage road. Nice rolling hills, challenging but not too tough. Being able to got some decent speed in some location but the section of Muskoka Beach Rd was not very good and in the middle of an industrail zone. Need to change this next time maybe. Other than that, loved it ! Did exactly what I wanted on the bike. Targeted 1:25:00 and did 1:24 :) What would you do differently?: Nothing as I was very happy the way I pushed all the way trough. Other than that, maybe not crashing just on the dismount line in front of everybody when trying to unclipping... ;) Transition 2
Comments: T2 started with me, on the ground as I felt because I did not succed unclipping my left shoe... Of course, just before the dismount line, you know, the place where everybody is there watching for you... Nothing to do except laughing at myself :) Other than that was an average transition. Not fast, not slow, just average. What would you do differently?: Unclipping my left shoe on time... Run
Comments: It was hot outside !!! The run was tougher I expected and the temperature did not help. I had to slow down in order to be able to finish. I hit every aid station asking for both water and HEED. Water on the head, HEED in the mouth (tryed to make sure I did not mistaken...). Lost at least 10 min on the run but I could not do more than that. What would you do differently?: Focused a little bit more on the run the previous weeks maybe ? Post race
Warm down: Got the HERO burger as the post recovery food, chocolate milk, then stretched, talked to the buddies there and packed my stuff. What limited your ability to perform faster: The temperature definititely ! woke up 4am, drive up there, eat a banana loaf and setup my transition area.
10 min run with some strides at the end up on the run course.
Went trough the swim in/bike out/in/run out and finish course to be faniliar with it.
