Swim
Comments: I always have a hard time deciding where to start in the pack for this race. Today, I decided to start to the far left and in the middle...thinking I would avoid most of the madness. Somehow, after about 100 yards and a little bit of traffic, I found myself on the far RIGHT of the group and with wide-open water in front of me! I kicked it into gear, rounded the bouy and kept on going. I felt good...could have pushed harder though. I came out of the water, after catching some of the guys in the wave in front of ours, feeling good and I jogged all of the way to transition. What would you do differently?: I'm happy with my swim. I would push it a little harder next time, but my lack of training had me nervous about going all-out. My endurance isn't there. Transition 1
Comments: Not horrible, but not good. I'd like to be under 2:00. What would you do differently?: My transition spot was pretty far from the timing mats...so not sure if I could do it much quicker. Taking the wetsuit off takes up time as well. Bike
Comments: I felt pretty good on the bike. I passed a few, and a few passed me. And some people I passed, passed me right back. I finished about 1:30 slower than last year and it's because of my lack of training. Otherwise, I'm fine with this ride. What would you do differently?: Just need more training...need to get into shape. Transition 2
Comments: I couldn't spot my transition spot...it was right there, in front of me, but for some reason I couldn't see it! Finally, I found my place and got moving. What would you do differently?: Remember my surroundings and be able to locate my spot quicker. Run
Comments: Very slow....took a walk-break at the far water station (1.5 miles in) and another with about 1 mile left in the run. Need to HTFU. And train. What would you do differently?: Suck it up, buttercup. Post race
Warm down: Stretched, had a post-race burrito, talked with our BT and Greyhound friends and watched the awards. What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of training. Peroid. Event comments: This triathlon was my first-ever four years ago... and I've been back for every one since. I love this race and the atmosphere. The volunteers are great and everything is very well run. Last updated: 2011-02-09 12:00 AM

Up and out of the house by about 5:30am and made it to the race site right at 7:00am. We set up the BT Tent, I got my race packet, setup the bike in transition and pulled on the wetsuit.
Swam about 200 meters before getting out and stretching.
