Got up early, ate a bowl of plain oatmeal and drank water.

Comments:

Held back at the start to avoid the crowd. Mistake...as I was much faster than most and ended up doing battle to get past people using my normal stroke. There was also a battle and slowness around the turn buoy.
What would you do differently?:

Try to start near the front, instead of hanging back.

Had to dry feet to put on socks and shoes. Did not train without socks so did not want to do here. Would have needed socks for a run anyway.

Figure out how to get socks on quicker or look into tri shoes

Would have tried to kick up the pace a bit earlier to get speed up.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Lack of knowledge, too conservative on bike and swim.
