Swim
Comments: What a blast this was. I go right up front in my wave for the start. It was a bit crowded but I was very comfortable. Was pushed to the right on the way out, but felt better when Dave Valdez said he experienced the same thing. From 3rd bouy to turnaround and all the way back my line and sighting was really good. Got some drafting in on the way out and was able to ride in the last 150 yards in a nice pack of 3. Swam all the way until fingers touched sand too. What would you do differently?: sight a but better. Warm up in the water for 10-15 minutes. Transition 1
Comments: I did not need to lose a wet suit as i wore tri suit for entire thing. I took my time in the transition....too much time, but got in some nutrition and liquids before heading on bike where I was concerned about getting in the calories. What would you do differently?: Have a bit more of a sense of urgency...looks like I was having a tea part before I got on the bike. Bike
Comments: Rode my new tri bike for the race and it was awesome...but had only been on it 1x on road (day before) and 1x on trainer. Was freaked out by the position/aero bars the day before race and really was not sure if I would even get in them. Ended up riding 98% of the time in aerobars and loved it. Did manager to get hydrated while riding too What would you do differently?: Should have take in some more liquid and nutriation on the bike, but did better than I anticipated. Transition 2
Comments: This was an easy transition. Shoes on easily and grabbed a bit of nutrition on way out of transition area Run
Comments: The heat was really hard for me. I walked through the water stations to get adequate water, put ice in shirt (this helped), and get some of my own nutrition. Was so glad to see so many Alaskans along the course! Seeing Laurel and Deana when I jumped back on paved trail for last .5 miles was awesome...their encouragement was much needed. AND all of the encouragement along the way from friends! (thanks Lyn!!! Great to see coach Lisa right at the finish line What would you do differently?: Train more for heat Post race
Warm down: OOPS! Does beer count? I was drained at the finish and took me about 10 minutes to get my stomach back. Did noyt have my recovery drink handly which was bad. Should have left at my bike or with Lyn. Last updated: 2011-04-06 12:00 AM

Woke up at 4:30 and had a relaxing start to the day. Stomach was not really ready for food but managed to get down a bowl of cereal and 1/4 bagel with cream cheese. Had about 2 oz of diet coke too.
45 minute drive to race start and set-up, etc went really well and easy/
Yikes...no warm up. Dumb and wonder how a bit of a warm-up could have improved my race
