Pre-race routine:

Got there early as trabsition is 2.6 miles from my front door. I had eaten breakfast and a diet Pepsi beforehand.

This whole week leading up to this race has been a tough on. I have probably been fighting something as I felt lousy all week and had an ear infection to boot. So my expectations were not high.
Event warmup:

swam 150 yards to warm up.
Swim
  • 04m 50s
  • 250 yards
  • 01m 56s / 100 yards
Comments:

Was not breathing well. Not panic-breathing, but it was just hard to breathe deep. Turned out to swim 1.8 seconds slower than last year. 2 people passed me near the end, but I climbed out faster and got through transition faster than them. Wore my punisher suit to keep myself psyched up!

One problem with this race is the swim lanes are narrow and it makes it difficult to swim the up and back in each lane. Seeding this year was much better.
What would you do differently?:

Feel better.
Transition 1
  • 01m 17s
Comments:

Overall it was pretty good. I had to run through most of the tranistion area to get to my bike as my rack was near the bike exit.
What would you do differently?:

Not much.
Bike
  • 30m 5s
  • 10 miles
  • 19.94 mile/hr
Comments:

Did not have my usual high end and that was probably due to the rbeathing issue. Saw Wes, Linda's husband out on the course.
Transition 2
  • 01m 26s
Comments:

xtenex laces were undone on one shoe. Had to retie. Two relay runners were blocking my rack when I came in. I had to make them move to get to my spot!
What would you do differently?:

Check equipment better.
Run
  • 27m 57s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 08m 59s  min/mile
Comments:

Ran the WHOLE thing. Tough course but made it! Run IS coming along after all this rehab. A lot of it is mental! Was 48 second faster than last year!

Had another runner yell "I love the suit" which pumped me up!
Post race
Warm down:

Hung out with friends and then rushed home to prepare for the BBQ. Pictures are curtesy of Linda. (thanks).

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Not feeling 100%

Event comments:

Like this race. A new sponsor The Meat House had some AWESOME sirloin afterward! Would have been faster if I knew I was coming in for this food!
