Swim
Comments: I was only in the water about 1 minute before we started. Lost my breath several times from getting kicked, and then drinking water. Glad I knew to flip to recover. What would you do differently?: Try to remain more composed after kicks and sips. I was worried towards the about my decision to use non-Rx goggles and contacts in. I had decided that I really wanted my contacts because I thought it was supposed to rain. But it didn't! Transition 1
Comments: Struggled a bit with my pedals. For some reason, I locked in first with my left foot - I usually start with my right foot in. Brain felt numb after the swim. What would you do differently?: Not sure. I felt good about helping a woman screaming - I got her bike back up which is what I think she wanted. Bike
Comments: The bike is long. I passed a few folks, and think I did OK. I felt pretty good about riding up the hill when I saw a few people walking up the hill! What would you do differently?: nothing Transition 2
Comments: Forgot where my bike was! Felt fast. Liked the speedlaced. My fancy Zoot number holder messed up as I rounded the corner and headed up along the canal! I had to knot it and as I slid it over my head 1 of the little squeeze cord rips let go. I ran the whole 3.1 miles with the number tucked under the thing! Run
Post race
Warm down: bannana, everything bagel, several cups of gatorade. What limited your ability to perform faster: Bike was very slow compared to my age group :( Event comments: OK - so this was my first OWS triathlon. But it was SO much more fun than the YMCA! Last updated: 2011-05-04 12:00 AM

Walked back and forth between the Transition area and my truck 4 times. I got the idea to not wear my tri shorts. Then, I decided I would get changed in the car. I changed my mind, decided to change in the porta potty. I had already walked back once to stash my keys at the transition area, and when I realized I'd lock my shorts in the truck, I ran to the transition area, and ran back to the truck. Relieved to find my $85 shorts - but winded.
