Swim
Comments: Was part of the 1st wave. 1st time in the washing machine and did not panicked but found I was exhausted before even reach the first turn... Nothing to say. I know I need to progress in open water. I was on the last couple of people of my wave to exit water and only few people from the following wave catched me up. What would you do differently?: Practice, practice and practice more open water. Coach said she was fine with my swim in the pool and that I just need to be more and more aclimated to OWS. Transition 1
Comments: I did not want to rush this one. Remove the wetsuit easily and then remember to put the helmet first before anything. Then put socks, shoes and the bike. Did not want to try a "flying mount". Took my time. What would you do differently?: Nothing really. This will come with more practice Bike
Comments: It was more difficult that I predicted because of the wind. And also find it very difficult to judge the effort. Try to not do any violations and succed :) It was really helpfull to had ride the course the week before as I knew where I was going through. What would you do differently?: Nothing I could do to stop the wind... Transition 2
Comments: Just try not to fall on the little grassy wet downhill just before the timing mat...nothing else to say, racked the bike, removed shoes, removed helmet, put shoes and off I went. Pretty happy with this one as I was not too bad, specially for a first one :) What would you do differently?: Nothing, I'm happy of this time. Run
Comments: Very happy by the run. Felt great except for the first 500m where the legs were so "bricked" even with all the bricks workout !!! But managed to go through and find my pace around 5min/k. Finished strong on the run and was happy about this leg. What would you do differently?: Nothing, was happy with this segment. Post race
Warm down: Stretched a lot as usual and was very happy about the post race food. After the traditionnal bagels, banana, it was a real pleasure to have a burger to chill down :) Best post race food recovery ever :) Packed my stuff, put the bike on the trunk, chat a bit with the coach and head back to Toronto. What limited your ability to perform faster: Definitely the swim and the wind. Other than that, I'm within the performance I targeted for a first tri and so, was happy with this result. Event comments: Best recovery food ever :) Very well organized and very family friendly. A good race :) Last updated: 2011-06-08 12:00 AM

Just woke up very early to drive from Toronto and be there soon enough to got a good spot on the rack.
Eat 2 banana muffin and that's was a little bit too much but anyway...
Setuped up my area by following all the advice I foudn on the web and followed the last checklist from Ray's DC blog in order to make sure I was ready to go.
Just followed part of my coach's plan. Ran 15 min, skipped the bike and then put the wetsuit on to swim a little bit and then wait for the start.
