Comments: First open water race. started too strong and ended up average. overall, made it out alive with enough left for the rest of the race. What would you do differently?: start slower and keep breathing under control. kick less. it leads to bad calf cramping for the rest of the race. Transition 1
Comments: Wetsuit came off in one motion for both feet. A lot of thought and time spent on something that didn't end up being a problem at all. Getting into bike shoes way more challenging while rolling than i planned on. ended up cutting my achilles and struggling to get feet on top of shoes. What would you do differently?: get triathlon bike shoes. They make 'em for a reason. Bike
Comments: Wanted to drink more but felt like I was sacrificing speed to get at the bottle. Drank 3/4 bottle of cytomax. Could have pushed harder on some stretches. Especially on downhills. use speed to my advantage coming up the other side. What would you do differently?: drink the other 1/4 bottle. got dropped by age group winners about half way through. deciding to push myself I could have hung on and bettered my time. Transition 2
What would you do differently?: stay in shoes a little longer. keep cranks parallel to ground at dismount so shoes don't drag as bad. Ended up carrying bike over shoulder to rack Run
Comments: still struggling to get my legs back after the bike. What would you do differently?: push harder. easier said than done. Although I did sprint the last 1/8th mile because of some competition. so i know i could have done better Post race
