Swim
Comments: I felt like the swim went good for me, I was relaxed and able to stay in a good rhythm throughout the swim..Was able to pass some people and had to adjust my direction due to some that could not swim straight.Considering you started by estimated swim time I ended up getting caught with slower people that over estimated their time so it got bunch up especially getting out and trying to get to T1. What would you do differently?: Just continue to train and get more efficient.. Transition 1
Comments: T1 run was an immediate run up three flights of steps to get to road level, felt like from where it started that this went well..Helmet,Sunglasses,grab bike and was gone.. What would you do differently?: Continue working after getting on bike getting feet into my shoes. Bike
Comments: Had a good bike leg and was quicker than last year even with the issue I had with my new wheels. The front hub was scrubbing against the fork so I had resistance to fight against the entire ride..I also passed a lot of people that started well ahead of me in the swim.. What would you do differently?: Make sure wheels are free spinning before leaving transition area for the start of the race, continue to work on getting stronger on hills. Transition 2
Comments: Off the bike, ran with bike and was able to spot which rack lane to turn down, thanks to looking for a landmark before leaving transition area. Racked bike shoes on,helmet off grab race number and gone with no problems. What would you do differently?: Learn to do a moving dismount on the bike.. Run
Comments: Started the run and wham there is an uphill grade. The further into the run it just got harder and harder..it was well under some of my training paces..Was able to manage four miles at around 9:20ish avg. but then had to walk some after that due to leg muscles tighten up.Mile 5 and 6 were 10:40ish pace then I was able to push at the end 7:21 pace..My garmin had the run at 6.35 miles..Think it was a combination of the climbs on the bike and the heat with high humidity..plus 90% humidity.. What would you do differently?: Do more brick workouts with the run starting at race pace to see if this helps. Post race
Warm down: Walked around and had some nice cold water with bananas and orange wedges. What limited your ability to perform faster: My legs went dead during the run and it mentally got into my head..It was hot and humid. Event comments: This is a great race with a lot of good scenery..Great activities to do in this town..You need to like hills on the bike though.. Last updated: 2011-06-24 12:00 AM
