Swim
Comments: terrible swim again this year. water was very choppy, and they had the course closer to shore than last year. Impossible to get any kind of rhythm going. Had to stop a few times. Wasn't a fan of the wet suit as it made my arms heavy. A guy in my wave died during the swim, too... http://capegazette.villagesoup.com/news/story/kayaker-shares-story-... What would you do differently?: train significantly more in open water Transition 1
Comments: they combined the swim and T1 time, so not sure how I did, wet suit wasn't too hard to get off. What would you do differently?: run up from beach Bike
Comments: Policeman had us stop at beginning of bike race to let the ambulances into the parking lot for the guy on the beach... Had headwinds in both directions. next year is supposed to have full 15 mile bike, when the Indian River Bridge is open. there are also a fair amount of novice riders, so getting around tehm in the transition area was tough at times (people on mountain bikes, hybrids, etc...) What would you do differently?: not much - exact same time as last year, not really sure how to get faster other than train more. (or buy a fancier bike....) Transition 2
Comments: I was a minute faster than last year nthe transition, so I must have been doing something right. No socks again this year for bike or run - good call. What would you do differently?: nothing Run
Comments: not too bad for no training. What would you do differently?: train more Post race
Warm down: walked around a bit What limited your ability to perform faster: lack o'training Event comments: it is a great race - TONS of people, and a fair number of guys like me who just go out and do it without much training (some tubbies here and there too!) Swim sucks every year - hoping it will be easier next year. No Bonfire this year - maybe next year. Last updated: 2011-09-26 12:00 AM

got up at 6am, at some fruit loops. Felt pretty good, even though Joe and I had ~5 beers the night before. Drank gatorade
none, other than the 1/2 mile walk down to the start of the swim
