Pre-race routine:

Woke up, had a bowl of cereal and tried to stay relaxed. A mountain bike race the day after a triathlon is a little much for one weekend, but I felt great this morning. Completely freaked out when I remembered that I still needed to get my brake pads replaced. Luckily we were able to find a place that was open and had mechanics on hand. Got them replaced with time to spare. Went to Subway for lunch and headed to the trail.
Event warmup:

Did a couple of quick little rides up the paved trail. Got my knees warmed up and in functioning order. Women are always the last to ride, and with it being 100+ degrees outside, I didn't want to over do it.

Comments:

I love this trail. I wish I could have said/done something to the woman on the side-lines that called me a trail hog. She was just pissed off that I was beating her daughter.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Post race
Warm down:

Stretching, walking and lots of cold water.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

The heat!
