Run
Comments: Should've started at front of corral or in Red, but was way too overcrowded to move up there. Ran with Ryan, Tom, and Robert for first 5 miles, Ryan fell off after 2 miles. Too many people to pass first couple miles, was hard to go faster. Was wearing new IT-Band brace, 3" above right knee (1st time ever! bought at expo). IT Band pain never came, but got different inside of knee pain after 6, so stopped to take band off and carry rest of way, and took another Allieve, and pain went away. I think slower first mile is what made me feel so strong at the end. Usually at mile 9 my legs are screaming, but not this year, and mile 10 was very fast and comfortable! Took Gatorade every stop, plus a little water for me and rest on my head and back. Ran through a couple hydrants, but they only had a few open this year, and were running very low pressure because temps remained cool with the overcast this year. Winds NE@6. What would you do differently?: Now that ITBS is under control, train more miles in March and April (only had 49 & 86 miles, respectively) Post race
Warm down: water, food, stood in wet clothes waiting for rest of ITF to finish, stretched, then 1m walk back to car, then met everyone at House of Brews, then went home to jump in hot tub! What limited your ability to perform faster: lack of training, perhaps overcrowded corral. Event comments: #6 in a row in the books, Lucky #7 next year! Last updated: 2012-05-07 12:00 AM

Woke at 4:35, got dressed, took 1 Allieve, got kids & wife in the car, stopped for Wawa Coffee (for coral pee cup later). Ate a banana on the way. Got to stadium parking lot at 5:55, they made us park the furthest possible lot from the station, even though lot adjacent to station was empty. Just missed the 6am express. Caught the 6:20 Express. Stopped at the first porta-pot stops again for a nice long "purge". Headed to the 50yd line of the field to meet up with the rest of ITF. Saw Vince near the track and hung out with him for a while. Aquaphored my feet while sitting with him.
Sticked legs with Adam's travel stick in the field. No jogging, planned on stretching in the coral but was super over crowded, so no real stretching this year. Took 6-drops of creatine in the corral, and peed in coffee cup in corral, emptied in nearby trashcan, and gave to Robert to use.
