Swim
Comments: First open water swim, tried to lag back but caught up. People bunched up at the turns which kinda freaked me out. Water was warmer than expected. Sighting was initially good, but started swimming off course towards the end. What would you do differently?: I think I could have gone harder as I wasn't winded at all after the swim. Transition 1
Comments: Long uphill run to transition area. Kept everything in my bucket, didn't setup my stuff since it was raining. Cleats got clogged with mud, hard time clipping into pedals. What would you do differently?: Get there earlier so I can find a better spot. Layout all my stuff. Bike
Comments: Course had more hills than expected. Not many flats to take a drink. What would you do differently?: Drink more Transition 2
Run
Comments: Calf cramped up right after T2, drank at all the water stops. Walked about 75% of the course finally was able to run after I had rehydrated. What would you do differently?: Drink more on the bike for a better setup for the run. Post race
Warm down: Met wife and friends at finish, left to return my rental bike. What limited your ability to perform faster: Calf cramp, needed more hydration on the bike. Event comments: Even though it wasn't a stellar performance, I was happy with it. It was my own personal challenge. I had two goals; to finish and not suck. I think I did OK. Should do better if I loose some more weight. Initially given the wrong race packet, went back and they swapped it no problem. Last updated: 2012-05-12 12:00 AM

Grabbed an egg McMuffin and ate it while I waited in traffic. Not as nervous as I thought I'd be since it was my first race... ever.
It was more like a cooldown, they were ready for an ontime start, then at the last minute, it was delayed. Stood at the swim start in the rain and cold, felt muscles tightening up.
