Pre-race routine:

Got up at 6am, had a cup of coffee and a granola bar. Left for the race about 6:30. It is only a 15-20 minute drive from my house.
Event warmup:

Did some light jogging and leg kicks, since we started with the run.
Swim
  • 12m 32s
  • 500 yards
  • 02m 31s / 100 yards
Comments:

There was a really long jog/walk (no running allowed) from transition to the pool. It took well over a minute for me to get to the pool, then I had to wait for about 40 seconds to get in the pool. They only allowed one person in at a time, and they were not allowed to start swimming until the lifeguard told them they could go. I got stuck third in line and it took a while. I was doing pretty well on the swim....until...some woman grabbed my ankle and pulled me to a stop. Not knowing that she was being ultra aggressive and trying to beat me, I stopped swimming, actually said sorry to her then let her pass me! Live and learn!
Transition 1
  • 02m 16s
Comments:

Since this was a reverse sprint this was T2 for me. It went very well. It was actually pretty easy putting my swim cap and goggles on while running, since I had so much time before I could enter the pool.
Bike
  • 41m 35s
  • 12.43 miles
  • 17.94 mile/hr
Comments:

I had a good bike leg, especially coming off a run that felt hard for me. There were quite a few hills, but it's a course I ride sometimes, so I was familiar with the area. It was out to a turn around point, then back. The turn around was really tricky, and I almost had to come to a complete stop.
Transition 2
  • 01m 30s
Comments:

This was t1 for me which was between the run and bike. It went pretty well. The transition area was really long, though, and no running was allowed.
Run
  • 24m 59s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 08m 02s  min/mile
Comments:

One big loop that was only three miles last year. This year they tried to make it a more accurate 5k and overshot it. We ended up running 3.22 miles. I was having some problems with my asthma during the run (didn't have an inhaler with me), but I got through it OK.
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

Asthma and ultra aggressive competitors using dirty tactics!

Event comments:

Very good race. Really nice and well organized race director.
