Run
Comments: This was a fun time. Tiffany and Kelly came with me, we had to potty with about 8 minutes before the start and went inside the grocery store to a line but waited anyways since I did have to go go. :-) By the time we were done the race had started and judging by Kelly's garmin reading of 4:58 finish and our chip time was 5:05 and all the runners were a good .25 mile up the road but we caught up to them. We went into this to stick together and just enjoy ourselves.....we stopped at every historical marker and read about the Hatfields and McCoys and took a couple different photos at some locations. Around mile 6 ish there was a monster hill, we walked up it and the down was even steeper and that really flared up my knee but I dealt with it. It did get swollen on me but today it is troubling me. Seemed to be alot of ups and downs and just slight uphill grades throughout the course. Dont remember what mile but the road turned into a fire road of sorts large rocks and dirt under them which was rough on your step but was a softer landing. I try not to really look at my garmin cause I dont wanna know how far I have left or how far I've gone,,,,there was a mile marker every mile and I told my friends the nice thing about the ultras I've done is there are no mile markers to remind you where you are. We got to a golf course and I wondered if anyone ever got close to being hit with a ball?? At the golf course we had to take this swing bridge across and that made me sick to my stomach, a guy behind us was jogging it so it was moving alot and if I looked down I got really really woozy so I tried to just look ahead. Once we finished we waited in line to get our mason jars which also had what place we came in overall which was kinda a cool souvenir, they had bananas, watermelon, grapes and oranges at the end and the watermelon was wonderful! After we got our mason jars we headed to find the shuttle back to the hotel, dont know if we were directed to the correct location but there was a couple others looking for one as well and there were none in site I told them by the time we head back and ask them for sure if this where one comes and then back out to this corner we could be part way to the hotel by walking, so off we walked,,,,it was about a mile or so but it felt pretty good to walk. Was kinda funny cause the last mile of any run you cant wait for it to be over and it hurts then its done and you have to walk a mile or so by choice and you feel good haha Post race
