Swim
Comments: Good swim for me - caught some folks but pushed a bit and had some trouble catching my breath. Navigation was perfect, start was very stress-free with the time trial start (first for me). What would you do differently?: Training....training......training. Transition 1
Comments: Felt like this took forever, glad to see it was closer to 1min than 2. What would you do differently?: Hard to say...practice taking wetsuit off quickly. Maybe take suit off in the water instead of in transition. Bike
Comments: Decent ride but felt like I could have put forth more effort. Held a bit back for the run, since my run training was lacking. Had a hard time catching my breath after the transition and slight uphill out of the park. What would you do differently?: Push harder. No reason to hold back. Transition 2
Comments: Not sure how much I could have improved this....pretty pleased. What would you do differently?: Not much. Run
Comments: Had to start a bit slower than I liked to get my feet under me. This was my first hard effort in about a month from a calf injury. Definitely did not train as well as I would have liked for this race. Although, it turned out to be my fastest 5k in a sprint. Pleased but curious about my potential.... What would you do differently?: Nothing. I had to feel my way through this, not sure how my calf would handle the intensity. Turned out better than I thought. Post race
Warm down: Walked a bit then hung around the finish. Ate some food (hot dog with baked beans). Ended up with a 2nd place award for my AG. It is actually a third place in the AG, since the OA winner was from my AG - so they placed him in overall and shifted placing up in the AG. Very pleased! What limited your ability to perform faster: More swim volume, push harder on the bike, and get some interval training for the run. Event comments: Probably the best sprint triathlon I have attended. They gave three bikes away and one was a specialized transition (ultegra). Wish they would do plaques for the AG awards, as the finishers award was the same glass mug as I received for the AG awards. Granola cereal, strawberry yogurt and coffee after waking up at 4:30am. About a 1.5hr drive from home.
No warmup - except trying to zip up my wetsuit, seriously I was sweating after getting that thing on.
