Age Group Rank = 111/115
Pre-race routine:

I had pasta the night before, woke up at 4:30 and had a bowl of oatmeal with blueberries and some OJ. Drank a bottle of water mixed with gatorade as I waited for a looooooong time to start the swim. Ate some Gatorade chews as well. I didn't start until 8:40 and my transition area was set up by 6AM. Long.Morning.
Event warmup:

I didn't warm up at all. Just did some arm stretches while I sat in the grass!
Swim
  • 17m 22s
  • 820 yards
  • 02m 07s / 100 yards
Comments:

There were 75 people in my wave so I had a really hard time getting into a good groove for the first 200 yards. People switching directions, stopping in front of me. Very frustrating. I switched between freestyle and breast stroke. There was a time where I was even on my side and I just kicked. I was doing whatever I could to get to the finish.
What would you do differently?:

Be stronger at the swim. I was so exhausted by the end. This is what happens when you haven't been in the pool for months...oops!
Transition 1
  • 04m 16s
Comments:

I thought I had a pretty good routine in this transition. A lot of girls were fumbling with getting their shoes and socks on. I had rolled my socks already and put baby powder in them so I just grabbed them and unrolle dthem onto my feet! I have speed laces so I just pulled those tight, threw on my sunglasses and helmet and I was off.
What would you do differently?:

Run the entire way to the transition area.
Bike
  • 1h 03m 58s
  • 14.17 miles
  • 13.29 mile/hr
Comments:

I liked how they had bike techs every 2 miles to help with flats. Helped reassure all the first timers ;)
What would you do differently?:

I need tires that can have a higher PSI. My back tire looked flat the entire time.
Transition 2
  • 02m 26s
Comments:

I was pretty tired by the end of the bike but I tried to run with my bike a little, and then realized I needed to catch my breath before I started on the run so I ended up walking with my bike.
Run
  • 47m 3s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 15m 08s  min/mile
Comments:

This was my huge downfall. I was dead by the time the run started and I had no energy. I really need to train more on the bike and go straight to running. The course was in the sun the entire time and by then it was about 85 degrees.
