Swim
Comments: Lake Ontario swim. Very spectator friendly swim course. Wetsuit legal, but I think I actually swim slower in a wetsuit. Transition 1
Bike
Comments: They closed off Gardiner and DVP for the bike course, cool. Fast course 1st AG, YAY!! Avg HR = 154 Transition 2
Run
Comments: Very hot. Spectator friendly run course. Garmin lap data - Lap - Distance - Pace/Speed - AHR - MHR 1 1.00 miles 08m 44s /mile 156 160 2 1.00 miles 08m 45s /mile 158 160 3 1.00 miles 09m 03s /mile 159 161 4 0.10 miles 08m 25s /mile 162 163 Avg HR = 158. Highest race HR ever! Post race
Warm down: Cramping towards the end of the race. After the race at the awards ceremony, I actually noticed muscle twitching on the calves when they cramp. Weird and scary. Event comments: Great race, surprisingly well organized for a first time event, 1000 people. Sprint started @ 9:30, got to sleep in. Some guy called Simon Whtifield finished the sprint in 55:32, and some girl named Paula Findlay finished in 59:31, compared to mine of 1:26. Paula didn't even race in Edmonton, even though she's from there. Looks like the 2 of them are ready for the London Olympics. 2nd AG, the medal is the same Triathlon Canada medal as in Edmonton, moved up one placing to a silver compared to a bronze from Edmonton. I need a gold to get the whole set, maybe in 3yrs when I get to the next AG!! 2nd race in a row where we get free beer! Fun race indeed. This race will serve as the Nationals for 2013 and 2014, definitely on my race list. Last updated: 2012-07-20 12:00 AM
