Swim
Comments: Could not have asked for a bettter swim. Was hopping to go around 50mins and to do it in 40 I was stoked. Water was flat and not a ripple to be seen. Started at the back of the pack and got into rytham. For the first time had no panic attackes and needed no help from the lifesavers. Walked slowly to catch my breath as i started the second lap. What would you do differently?: nothing. Very happy and was 10 mins faster then expected. Transition 1
Comments: I wear cycling shoes so need to wear them in Transision. Had cramp as i was bending over to put my shoes on. Looked at Garmin and saw option on the screen. Pressed the wrong button and skipped transistion then next minute was on the run leg. Useless Gramin ;) or me. What would you do differently?: maybe try running start? Before then i will need to buy Tri cycling shoes. Bike
Comments: Out and back course. Single lap. Hill straight out of transision. Not as bad as i was expecting. 10-15mns into the ride noticed that the cap had fallen of my tool kit. Stopped to check what had falllen out and what i could cover it with. Kept riding and noticed aero bar loose. No problems. Allen key set in the tool kit. Stopped again and no allen keys any more. Kept riding but was getting worse. Stopped again to try see what i could use to hold it up. At thta time the bike legmsponser drove by and stopped to see what was wrong. And yes he loaned me an allen key so that i could keep riding aero. I know it is wrong but i am very thankful for his help! What would you do differently?: Not much. I did slow down a lot on the way back, but not sure if that was all due to the wind or a litttle tired. Spend more time in the aero bars.took 1.18 to ride to 1/2 way mark and then 1.40 to ride back. Transition 2
Comments: Very good and quick. What would you do differently?: Nothing Run
Comments: Very happy agani. Maintained good pace. Walked the aid stations. Drank coke and water. Second lap had ice water which was good. pour it over and down my shirt. Had my wife jog with me for about 5 minutes on the 1st lap and my sister on the second lap. Did help to make me keep running. Had my kids cheering and running along with me for a section along the beach aswell. Had lots of support as a few nephews and nieces where there cheering me on. What would you do differently?: Run faster ;) Post race
Warm down: None to speak off. The winner was DQ for littering on the course when he acccidently dropped a bidon. Felt for him as there was a lot of gel wraps along the course. What limited your ability to perform faster: The wind on the bike and the hilly course. Event comments: Would love to go back again. It will never be a course to set a PB on. Finishing medel would have been nice. Loved the Bidons. Last updated: 2012-08-08 12:00 AM
