Pre-race routine:

Up at 5. Whole wheat bagel with crunchy peanut butter and coffee. Waited a little longer than I want to try and use the restroom before I left for the race. Made good time traveling until the last mile. Got out of line and found parking a little south of the main parking area. Dropped off my bag a bag check (first time using that service) then got in porti-pottie line. They had a lot more than last year.
Event warmup:

Some static stretches and walking around. Got in the corral at about 15 min. to start, already jammed.

Comments:

When my stomach felt ok, I ran really well, but just like my last few training runs, I had serious stomach issues. Had to stop twice to hit porti-potties. Probably cost me 4+ minutes of not moving plus the change in pace probably slowed me down another minute or so. Overall, felt very good while moving, passed lots of people on the bridge and felt very strong the last 3 miles. Couldn't believe how many people were walking the last 1/2 mile.
What would you do differently?:

Figure out my stomach issues!
Post race
Warm down:

Not much, grabbed an ice water and a muffin then made my way to the beer garden.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Stopping to go.

Event comments:

This race will always be special for me since it was my first distance race. As long as I continue to run, I will continue to run this race.

Course: 4th time I've run this race, and this was the 4th different course. The good thing, it keeps getting better. Race heads south to the Ringling Bridge then all the way out to St. Armand's Circle before heading back over the bridge. Then the race turns north on US41 until it gets to the Ringling Museum before winding its way back south to the start/finish line. Very well laid out and marked course. Plenty of water stops, although not evenly spaced, and lots of spectators.
