Swim
Comments: HORRIBLE SWIM! I panicked in the water and couldn't put my head under the water. Then, I panicked even more as the other ladies pulkled further and further away. The few times I did put my head under water I started swimming off course like crazy. What would you do differently?: Relax. Do more open water swims. Practice siting more! Transition 1
Comments: Wore running shoes - haven't invested in biking shoes yet. What would you do differently?: Jump on bike at transition. Bike
Comments: I felt like I genuinely underperformed during this ride. I did well in the bike at my first tri and I slacked just a little in the bike training by swimming extra. I guess I should have kept with my previous routine as all the extra swimming did notthing for me. What would you do differently?: Wiped the dirt off of me from the swim. I was covered in sediment the whole race. YUCK! Would have pushed harder on my hill climbs during training. Transition 2
Comments: I did jump off my bike and run into the transition area. What would you do differently?: I would have checked before the race which gate to run out of for the run portion. I went the wrong way and lost a few seconds. Run
Comments: I did not like this run at all. It was hard to know where you were overall. Though obstacles were spray painted bright pink I was still afraid of my legs not listening to my brain and I thought I might trip on several occasions. What would you do differently?: Run faster. I like to stay just under 9:00 minute miles, which I failed to do here. Post race
Warm down: Find a bathroom and go tinkle. Find some fresh fruit, water, and snack eat and drink. Once transition area opens, pack up my gear, head to car and pour a gallon o f water over my head -- change into some fresh, clean, and dry clothes. Oh yeah... totally forgot to stretch... maybe that's why my quads were screaming at me for two days afterward. What limited your ability to perform faster: Inexperience and lack of knowledge of course. On my first tri I was able to ride bike loop a month before so I was more comfortable. Event comments: Will I come back in 2013? I'd like to have a rematch against myself and my dismal swim. Overall, I did not love the course and heard suimilar things from other folks. I can see why they chose not to come back and do it again. I'll be back for more in 2013, especially since it close to home. Last updated: 2012-09-26 12:00 AM
