Pre-race routine:

Friday afternoon: arrive in Vegas, check into MGM. marvel at how damn BIG and SHINY and SPARKLY is!
Friday evening: dinner, casino, "oh, you're having a Smirnoff Vodka promo? And all I need to do is wear this wristband?" and dancing with some girls for their 21st birthdays and vodka, more vodka, and then some vodka, then to New York, New York for pizza, me telling everyone "your face is BLURRY" and it's the drunk (my friend) leading the drunker (me) back to our hotel. puke, call James (it's 4 am on the east coast, sorry J), puke again, pass out, sleep horribly.
Saturday: moan about being hungover, get greasy food to calm the stomach, sight see.
Saturday night: half a glass of champagne with dinner (Italian and so good), to bed early(ish)
Sunday (DAY OF RACE): sleep in, sandwiches for an early lunch, sat around and watched a lot of Teen Mom 2 and some show called Catfish about people who lie on the internet.

Sunday around 3:30 -- walk to start line. Go to bathroom. Twice.
Event warmup:

Sprint to my corral (I was 4 out of 38 with an estimated finish of 1:45!)
Run
  • 1h 53m 18s
  • 13.1 miles
  • 08m 39s  min/mile
Comments:

Oh I went out too fast.

that's new !

Also I had some baaaad GI issues around mile 10. It would have gotten ugly if the race didn't end at mile 13

Overall:
1656 out of 22114
Division:
107 out of 2615
Gender:
448 out of 13506

What would you do differently?:

Honestly, not a damn thing. I was in VEGAS! and it was a girls' weekend first, race second.
Post race
Warm down:

Find a bathroom. STAT

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Too much vodka
Not enough sleep
Dry desert air
Jet lag
GI issues
Too much rich food

Event comments:

It was pretty cool but it's just too crowded. Being in an early corral helped. It's also SUPER pricey (I think the half was $165). I wouldn't do it again but I'm glad I did it !

Course: Out and back on the strip. It was pretty cool running the strip at night, but not quite as awesome as I had expected. The dehydration/ hangover may have played a part.
