Overcast
Total Time = 1h 11m 25s
Overall Rank = 22/165
Age Group = 30-34
Age Group Rank = 4/10
Pre-race routine:

gawk at all the nice tri-bikes.. I think I saw like 4 Cervello P5'S....
Event warmup:

Be nervous... jump around a little.. squeeze into green cap (yuk). Luckily some nice lady told me "hey your groups in the water right now" or I probably woulda missed the start...
Swim
  • 09m 9s
  • 563 yards
  • 01m 38s / 100 yards
Comments:

Wow.. I need more open water training. Felt like I had to lift my head out of the water every three seconds to look to see where I was going. That threw off breathing and made me uncomfortable. Definitely need more open water time. I think I would have done better weith the Olympic distance just because there would have been more time to calm down and swim instead of feeling like disjointed sprints between glances @ the buoy.
What would you do differently?:

start in the middle front instead of on one of the sides.
Transition 1
  • 01m 13s
Comments:

apparently my transition times were all dismal...
What would you do differently?:

ummm practice it some?
Bike
  • 37m 14s
  • 12.2 miles
  • 19.66 mile/hr
Comments:

Got smoked by two old guys in thier 50's... thats a humbler. Also took a wrong turn into a cul-de-sac..woops. Finished pretty strong I thought.
What would you do differently?:

This is my weakest event, I need to train harder on bike for longer distances to get overall mph up in the 22's.
Transition 2
  • 01m 15s
Comments:

waay too long to transition here. I really need to practice.. and get some speed laces
Run
  • 22m 33s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 07m 16s  min/mile
Comments:

4th age group and 33rd overall.. I guess I need to run more too, and lose some weight so i can get pace into the 6's. I felt really slow on the run, but apparently, for me - I was running 7:20's which is pretty fast. Some of that was working on catching a dude that road killed me after about mile 2.
What would you do differently?:

Next time I'm going to start my end of race sprint a little earlier
Post race
Warm down:

stagger around... smile a lot, eat banana and then be shocked at how well I did for first Tri:)

What limited your ability to perform faster:

training. Gotta train harder

Event comments:

Had a blast, great course, and the weather cooperated for the majority of the event. It was an eye opener to compete with a ton of people who are true athletes, and out there giving their all. Cant wait for next year.. podium here I come!
