Comments: Our run started well, at a 9:00/mi pace as we ran around to get into the parks. We ran through California Adventure and stopped at most of the photo opportunities with the Disney characters, then made our way across the lot to Disneyland. Up Main Street we again stopped for photo opportunities, then we ran through the castle and up through Tomorrowland and Fantasyland (more pictures with the princesses). At mile 4ish, it was time to head out to the streets and we kept a 9:30-10:00 pace until about mile 6.5, then it was time to start walking (my daughter did not train distance for this race so her legs were only prepared for shorter spurts). We walked the majority of the second half of the course, but managed to run through all the photographers and through Angel Stadium. As we were a quarter mile from the finish, she wanted to sprint so we picked up the pace and ran hard through the finish arch. What would you do differently?: Nothing - this was some quality time with my daughter and we had fun getting pictures with all the Disney characters, as well as getting many comments on our shirt designs (hers - Kissing Frogs, from a Disney movie.....mine - Hunting Frogs, from the same movie). So time-wise I was about twice my normal pace and finish time, but it was all worth it. ![]() Post race
Warm down: We got our finisher medals, took some more photos, cooled off with the towels they provided, had a snack, and made our walk back to the hotel, as we were leaving shortly to drive home. What limited your ability to perform faster: Obviously I was not running at my normal pace, but I would not say this 'limited' my running faster - it was all by design and expected. Event comments: We love Disney and Run Disney. They put on a whale of an event!! Last updated: 2012-12-06 12:00 AM

I was running this with my 17 yr old daughter for her first half-marathon. We love the venue and planned to just have fun. We arrived at Disneyland the Friday before the race and spent all day Saturday riding the rides in the park. Our hotel was close by so it was a short walk between the parks to get to the start line. We woke up early and made our way to the start.
Nothing really, as I knew the pace we would be running was nothing that would challenge me to the point I would need to be limber. This was just going to be a fun race.
