Pre-race routine:

Later start for this one and need to drive for just over an hour, so had waffles and fruit with coffee.

Event warmup:

Walked/jogged 1.5km from parking spot to the start line, picked up package and got in the start chute

Training for last chance half in Nov but this one fit in the schedule so took a few extra days off and did a short run the day before. Felt better/faster than expected so kept at it. Felt good until the last few kms. 1 gel at 45 min point.

What would you do differently?:

Bring gatorade or something - course only provides water.

Post race
Warm down:

1 Free beer and a rice krispy bar then back in the car to drive home for lunch.

Middle of training plan

Event comments:

Good race in the mountains, will keep coming back every year if possible.

Course: Starts along a forest road then goes down into a golf course which is 2 laps then back up the big hill onto the main road. Not a fast course. Last 2 years it's been around 20km due to construction but they had us to an extra out/back at the end to get back to 22km.
