Swim
Comments: Only wore a wetsuit in order to keep warm pre-race & even with it on I was still cold waiting for my wave to start.. Started in the front of the group and I believe I kept that position throughout. Good, fast swim for me. Transition 1
Comments: Fumbled a bit in transition and I notice my T1 time was much longer than most of the people in the top 20 (like twice as long). What would you do differently?: Someday learn how to clip my shoes on the bike and get into them while riding. Also not wearing socks would have make this quicker. Bike
Comments: Still kind of ambivalent on this bike effort & result. Last week at my HIM, I put out an easier effort HR-wise and had a 21.9 mph averaged over 56 miles. Today on a similarly flat 15 mile course I pushed MUCH harder and had a 21.7 average. One would think on the shorter course, I'd be faster, but I am going to play the wind card here and say that is the reason why I was slower. I am pleased with my effort level and focus on the bike, I was just hoping to be a bit faster. I took one gel with a little bit of water at about mile 10 because I had forgotten to take my gel pre race. That was the only hydration and nutrition needed on this cool day. Transition 2
Run
Comments: Good effort for me on the run. 7:40, 7:31, 7:15 Post race
Warm down: Water, cookie, Delafield Brewery amber beer, sub, coke, more water. Event comments: Stuck around to get my award. Still trying to figure out what it is, but my best guess is a cartoon character of a chalice holding a replica of, ironically, a chalice that he is using to pour himself a drink into himself. Awesome bizarre, but I love it! Last updated: 2013-03-21 12:00 AM

4am wake up & leave with Brad from my house at 4:45. Ate some cereal with a banana & coffee.
Mid 50's at 7:30 so everyone was standing around freezing. Did a 5 minute swim right before my wave went out and discovered the water was the only warm place to be.
