Run
Comments: Well I was planning to walk most of this since I have only trained to jog about 2 miles. I signed up with the intention of walking it with my sister but her plans changed. Once we started I took off jogging and all of a sudden we were at the 1 mile marker!! I was sure only five minutes or so had passed, could have been the hypothermia messing with my mind or the bursts of adrenaline. I ended up jogging more than half of the race. It was a complete blast, I loved it. I was so amazed by how people just went with the conditions and had fun! There were even spectators braving the weather. Saw people in balconies dancing and cheering. People high fived me as I passed. Saw some good signs: Chuck Norris never ran a marathon This seemed like a good idea 3 months ago. Remember Nancy you are doing this for your Boobies! (?) Run random stranger run! Some guys had a canopy set up and they had a sign that said free bacon for runners! They were giving out bacon, too cool. The volunteers were awesome to hang in there. This was a wonderful experience, I was 15,000 something of 17,000 something in the half andI thoroughly enjoyed it and have tons of spots to improve moving up next time! What would you do differently?: Dress appropriately!!! Duh Mary I probably should not have jogged as much as I did but at least I can say I gave it a solid effort! Post race
Warm down: Walked around and got a banana and water. Went back to the hotel and when I got in there were staff at the front door and they put a WARM towel around me! It felt awesome! I didn't realize how cold I had gotten. What limited your ability to perform faster: Just my level of fitness and length of time training. Last August I did my first 5k, walked it all and it took me over an hour so I am happy with where I am now. Last updated: 2013-04-29 12:00 AM

Got up at 5:30, had a small coffee banana and cliff bar. Obsessively applied body glide on feet, have since identified more anatomical spots needing attention. Got a pre race picture of my dry self, that condition was soon to change.
Stand in the rain, huddle under gas station cover with lots of other cold wet people. Stand in corral in rain and cold. Talked with a local runner who was doing the race with his daughter, he had taken it up as something to do with her. At this point I was excited but wondering why I had worn a cotton shirt with no rain type gear. This was my first half marathon, first race away from home, first time doing any jogging in a race and I learned a lot!
