Swim
Comments: This was a poor swim for me. The current really made a difference and rouding the buoy took everything I had. I was top 10 out of the water for the women. I was really happy with that. Had a minor freakout in the beginning. I hate swimming in weeds and there were tons of them! Just long enough to brush against you during the swim. YUCK! What would you do differently?: More OWS. I need to get a little more comfortable with the weeds and murkiness. I'm a lifelong pool swimmer. Transition 1
Comments: I could have been faster here. I took some time washing my feet but it was worth it on the bike. Sandy feet would have been painful! Bike
Comments: I have never ridden at that pace on my mountain bike! I guess switching to the Fat Boy slicks was an excellent idea!! I was very happy with my bike performance. Transition 2
Comments: Super fast. It would have been faster had I not tried to exit the wrong way! Run
Comments: Very slow run for me. I drank too much on the bike so my stomach was full of water for the first mile. I didn't drink much during the run. I splashed some water over my head. The nature trail they sent us through was really rough. I was surprised at the amount of potholes, sticks, mud, etc. The race instructions has said it was blacktop. What would you do differently?: Not drink so much on the bike so I could have run faster. Also, I should have turned it up a little bit sooner! Post race
Warm down: Stretched, re-hydrated, and ate bananas and watermelon. Then, has a well-deserved beer with the other 5 people I raced with. Event comments: This race was a good first triathlon for me. I had a blast and thanks to BT, I knew way more on transitions, race organization, etc than my newbie friends did. I am so excited to be a triathlete!! I will upload pics later. My awesome BF and good friend took tons of photos and they were cheering all of us on! Last updated: 2006-06-26 12:00 AM
