Bike
Comments: I stayed with my competition to the top of the mountain - a 600 foot climb. I lost a lot of time on the downhill because I am way too cautious. As usual, I did a lot of loping/running/walking in addition to the riding. I was talking to a woman who was doing her first race. She is a grandmother, and this was only her 2nd time on a mtn bike. Her bike was a borrowed bike. A "friend" convinced her to try a race. What a race to try! Scorching hot day, wicked steep and technical. She finished more than hour after me. I think she owes her friend a poke in the eye! I won a pound of organic coffee and a medal. My husband finished 2nd in his division - he won new handlebar grips (for me) and a medal. The kids each finished 3rd in their groups and won waterbottles and sport beans. So we did OK as a family! What would you do differently?: Where do I begin? Post race
Warm down: Took a dip in Hosmer Pond which is at the base of the mountain and toboggan chute. What limited your ability to perform faster: skill Event comments: A good race. This is race 3 of the Maine Mtn Bike series, so we know a lot of people in the series. I think I am in 3rd place overall in Novice division. Last updated: 2006-06-26 12:00 AM
