Comments: Swimming is by far my worst sport. It was a decent swim though, I just went out with the mentality that it will be slow, but anything under 10 mins would be good. What would you do differently?: Swim more ![]() Transition 1
Comments: Good T1, did the rookie thing of putting on my watch, but it helps so much it was worth it. Need to learn how to do shoes already on bike. Did see guys sat down putting socks on, which I always think is crazy. What would you do differently?: Don't mess with watch ![]() Bike
Comments: Great bike, went out to hammer it, with only a 2 mile run to follow I didn;t have to leave too much in the tank. Was passed by only a couple, and passed several people on way more expensive looking machinery. Me and the aluminum road bike did good :) It was a rolling course, and was happy to be able to attack the hills confidently and it's where I did most of my passing. Probably could have gone a little faster, but didn't want to completely wreck the run. I uploaded the cadence plot, I am very please at how consistent I was throughout the race. Got out of shoes early because of winding downhill to dismount What would you do differently?: Nada ![]() Transition 2
Comments: I don't really know how I can make this faster. Fumbled a bit getting into running shoes What would you do differently?: Faster ![]() Run
Comments: It was hard work, both calves were threatening to cramp, but once I got into the woods, I dialed it back a touch. Only got passed by a couple of guys, a couple were difficult to get by, but all in all pretty good. What would you do differently?: Practice on trials ![]() Post race
Warm down: Walked around with a cold towel on my head. What limited your ability to perform faster: Bike crash a few weeks before, but to be honest it probably contributes to my bike fitness as it was the only sport I could train. Last updated: 2013-08-04 12:00 AM

Didn't sleep particularly well, was pretty excited. I had to cancel the previous race as I crashed the bike, and this was my "transfer" of registration to another event.
I have been able to ride the bike, but laid off running and swimming as the hip and shoulder were recovering. So only swam and run once in the last 3 weeks.
Got up a couple of hours before start and had some chocolate chip pancakes I made the night before, thought I would get a tasty breakfast :) Make a sandwich with 2 and some peanut butter. Maybe a little too heavy.
Got in the water and swam ~200m and did some good stretching waiting around for the swim start.
