Swim
Comments: For this being my 1st OWS I didn't experience any anxiety whatsoever. I just got it and did my thing, I took it slow and didn't really try and pass anyone, even though there were some slower swimmers ahead of me. I forgot to clear my goggles before the start so I had to tread water at the 1st buoy so I could actually see where I was going. I was off course a few times but I finally got my sighting down after the final turn. What would you do differently?: Ensure my goggles are clear before the start. Sight better. Be more aggressive. Transition 1
Comments: Transitions weren't recorded in the timing and I didn't use the Garmin on the Swim so no data for T1. Transition when well, fairly uneventful. Socks, shoes, shirt, helmet, sunglasses, bike and go. What would you do differently?: Not much, glad I didn't have to wrestle with a wetsuit. Bike
Comments: Garmin had me at 33:41 for 10.01 miles. 18mph average, 33.8mph max. Bike course was great. Some rolling hills with the occasional climb . The last 4 miles or so were all downhill. I am fairly new on the bike so I have issues shirting, especially on hills. I did have a small accident. I was getting passed on a hill and took my eyes off the road, went off the pavement and ended up with a bit of road rash on my left knee. Ended up walking that hill and one other as well. What would you do differently?: Train on the bike more to become more comfortable.. Transition 2
Comments: Easy T2. I rode in my running shoes. All I had to go was take off the helmet, grab my water bottle and go. What would you do differently?: Nada Run
Comments: Up hill on the out means downhill on the back. I had never done a Brick before so I was surprised how well I felt running off of the bike. I took it really slow and never really pushed myself. I was running sun 26min 5ks last summer (which is good for me) so I know this is where I can make up the most time with some consistent training. It was great to have my son and fiance waiting for me at the finish line. What would you do differently?: Actually run during training on the pavement. Post race
Warm down: Drank some water, had some watermelon and a banana. Stuck around for the awards. Won a raffle for a $15 RoadID gift ward! What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of training. Last updated: 2013-08-20 12:00 AM

Woke at 5:30am, had a protein shake and some allergy meds. Drank a glass of water, checked my gear one last time and headed to the lake.
I was at the lake two hours before the start of the event. I know that transition was on a first come first served basis and I wanted to be sure to get a spot that I could easily find coming out of the water. Set-up my transition and then mulled about taking with others and checking out the lake. I was able to get a short warmup in the lake while pre-race announcements were happening.
