Run
Comments: Huh. 2 weeks ago was my first half - EVER. My game plan that day was to just survive and with that I finished 2:26 on a course with an elevation gain of 423. Today's goal - crush my previous HM. My plan was to follow the 2:15 pacer. Well apparently I'm a bad planner because for the 2nd time in 2 weeks I had to throw my plan out the window. Today I was SURE I started ahead of the pacer but I couldn't see his sign so I figured when he passed me I'd just grab on and hold on for dear life. I knew my pace had to be 10:18 to hit a 2:15 finish time so I just tried to keep that in mind as I went. My first 7 miles are pretty consistent (with 2 being an anomoly). At mile 8 guess who I found? The 2:15 pacer. Not sure how he ended up in front of me but at that point I didn't need him and I knew I could hang on for 5 "measly" miles to finish before 2:15. I felt good so I started to kick it up. My garmin tells the rest of the story. Thanks for reading :) I'm pretty psyched and I can't wait to eat the apple crisp that's coming out of the oven in a few minutes. What would you do differently?: Nothing! Post race
Warm down: Walked around to find DH (who finished 1:33 EEK) and headed for the car to meet friends and go to lunch. What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of training. Last updated: 2013-09-09 12:00 AM
