Swim
Comments: The swim was a little warm for a wetsuit, but I managed. I really dislike wave starts that are not spread out properly. I ran into a number of swimmers from earlier waves. It takes a lot of additional effort getting around slower swimmers. What would you do differently?: I need more experience in the open water. My first 200 yards were a little rough. After I got settled in I was ok. Transition 1
Comments: This is a long transition. We had a long run up hill from the lake. It was no fun running that long with a wetsuit. What would you do differently?: Wear shoes to run up the hill from the lake. The next day I discovered a bruise on the bottom of my foot from running so long barefoot. Bike
Comments: I had a little hard time shifting to the large chainring. I discovered later that my left shifter was about to go out. Also my bar tape was like a sponge and soaked up every ounce of water. I changed it out after the race. What would you do differently?: Get a tri bike. Post race
Warm down: A little jogging and stretching. What limited your ability to perform faster: I need a tri bike and more experience in the open water. Event comments: I did the Aquabike in this event which I was 1st overall. It's nice to get on the podium, however I want to get back to running. I've been recovering from a torn calf muscle and it's taking for ever. This is a smaller event, however Endurance Sports Management does a fantastic job putting this together.
