Swim
Comments: 3rd leg of race (Reverse Tri). Everything went smooth. Pool traffic was light and I was able to pass freely when needed. What would you do differently?: I was hoping for a bit faster time here... maybe 15-20 seconds quicker. However, I can't complain as I have only been swimming 1X per week. I still feel like my Tri top is adding a lot of drag... perhaps try a singlet?? Transition 1
Comments: This one was Run to Bike. All went well. Shoes on bike - no issues. What would you do differently?: Keep my run speed up all the way to my bike. Bike
Comments: 2nd leg of race (Reverse Tri). Tough course - the hill got steeper as you went up it and it never seemed to end. I tried to stay focused and strong going up (knowing that I'd have an easier time on the "back"). At the steepest part of the hill, I alternated between standing and sitting. On the way back down the hill, there was a good 3/4 of a mile where I was able to maintain 40+ mph w/o peddling. That's as fast as I was comfortable with and able to keep up with on the current gears. What would you do differently?: Not much - felt like a good effort. Transition 2
Comments: This one was Bike to Swim. Again, all went well. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Run
Comments: 1st leg of race (Reverse Tri). My plan was to pace under 6:45 min/mile using my Garmin - this would get me into T1 in under 21 minutes. For the first 1/4 mile I was reading my Garmin wrong... thought I was on track with a 6:50 min/mile 1st mile - when I noticed the "6" (min) was actually a "5". I slowed down, let a few guys go and then tried to settle into my planned pace. I made my overall goal pace - but the course was long, so didn't get to T1 on time. I'm OK with that. What would you do differently?: Read my Garmin correctly Post race
Warm down: Walked back towards the T2 entry point to catch my friend coming and to cheer him on. What limited your ability to perform faster: Running.... Recently, I've put in more miles and speed work than ever trying to get faster. However, I just can't seem to make any real gains here. Event comments: Good job done by Chasing3 - even though it was the first time at this location, it felt like they had it all figured out. Last updated: 2014-05-12 12:00 AM

Woke up at 5 am, ate a Trader Joe's Energy Bread with peanut butter and drank a cup of coffee - then took a shower (that's how I wake up). Sipped on water while driving to the race and setting up transition. Ate a GU 15 minutes before race time.
Ran for a bit with some speed "pick-ups" mixed in. Stretched.
